How Expand Canvass to White Background?

says:

How can one expand a sail and become a white background?

I opened a new layer and expanded vertically.

By the way, I cull "All layers." I guess that was OK.

When I resized the extra infinite, the background on the expanded office was transparent I guess. It was two tones of grey in a checkerboard pattern I wanted the groundwork to be white, so I could clone some stuff onto information technology that got slightly cut off in the original image.

Create a new, white layer; it volition take the new prototype size. Move it to the dorsum, and there you lot go. If you lot desire a specific layer to get filled in with white, just movement the new white layer to just behind that layer, then combine them (don't know what the carte item is chosen in the English language version).

I have no words says:

If you've made the layer the size you want, 'fit canvas to layer' unremarkably does the job.

Hi. I just got back to this. I did information technology again. This time I left the Resize layers in the Gear up Image Canvas Size dialog to the default "None" (versus "All Layers" I did earlier) and information technology nevertheless worked, so I guess that wasn't important. I got the canvas bigger; but I'm stuck once more so I have some followup questions if you lot don't listen.

How do I create a new white layer? At this fourth dimension, I only know how to create a copy of one of the epitome layers.

When I go this white layer behind another layer, how tin can I merge downwardly those ii layers without merging down all the layers into 1? I wouldn't want to do that.

I tried "Fit Canvas to Layer". That seemed to change the dotted line perimeter on the original size to a solid yellow line, just nothing else. I tried dragging it over to the new expanded size, but that didn't piece of work. Then it went back to a dotted line anyway.
